    How do I become a Power Trader on Paxful?

    You might’ve seen a few users rocking the Power Trader badge. This badge is given out to users who meet our good standing criteria and pass our additional verification check.

    What are the requirements?

    • You need to complete ID verification.
    • You need to complete address verification.
    • You need to have at least 500 total successful trades.
    • You need to have at least 200 trade partners.
    • You need to be trading during the period of the last year.
    • Your account can’t have any marketplace warnings.
    • Your account can’t violate any of our Terms of Service.
    • Your account can’t be in a banned, frozen, or suspended state.
    • Your account needs to be at least one year old on the date you submit your application.

    It sounds like a lot is required, but in practice, all you have to do is maintain a good status on Paxful and keep it positive. The health of the marketplace is something we take very seriously.

    What are the benefits of becoming a Power Trader?

    • The Marketplace will see you as a trustworthy vendor.
    • You will not be required to do a security deposit if you create a Gift Card offer.
    • Possibility to submit a report at any time during the trade (as a seller of cryptocurrency).
    • Higher margin limits for payment methods (see table below).

    Okay, so I meet the requirements, what are the next steps? 

    • Contact Support and let us know you meet the minimum requirements for the Power Trader badge.
    • We will review your account. If you meet the requirements, you’ll need to submit additional verification. Once we receive the additional verification and approve it, you’re good to go!
  • Why is my account restricted?

    To maintain safe conditions within the Paxful marketplace, we take action on accounts that violate any of our Terms of Service. These actions will have a status that restricts the usage of Paxful.

    If your account is suspended, you are restricted from using your Paxful account. 

    If your account is frozen, you temporarily can’t buy or sell on Paxful and you can’t withdraw any funds. To regain access, you need to contact Paxful support and choose the following request type: Account Issues > Restrictions > My account is Frozen.

    If your account is banned, you are permanently restricted from buying and selling. However, you will still be able to do a one-time withdrawal of all your funds from your Paxful account and send it to any wallet address you choose. 


    What causes account restrictions?

    Here are some of the activities that can lead to your account being restricted: 

    • Seller of bitcoin asking to cancel the trade after the payment was completed.
    • Conducting a trade outside of Paxful trade escrow by communicating through Telegram, WhatsApp, etc.
    • Making a chargeback or reversing the payment after it has been processed.
    • Coin locking or holding a seller’s bitcoin in escrow without the intention to make the payment and complete the trade.
    • Unauthorized use of gift cards, such as selling a gift card in multiple trades and selling gift cards that have already been used. Read more about gift card trade specifics here
    • Forcing or tricking a trade partner to immediately release their bitcoin.
    • Exploiting to receive financial support through unauthorized or improper use of funds, or coercing or deceiving people to release their possessions.

    Paxful has zero tolerance for the following:

    • Using multiple Paxful accounts.
    • Using a fake identity or falsified verification documents.
    • Using Paxful from an OFAC banned country listed on this page.
    • Unauthorized use of gift cards / chargebacks / defrauding users.

    How do I remove the restriction?

    Some account restrictions such as banned and suspended are not reversible, therefore the actions are final

    However, if your account is frozen, first check your email for information, and then contact Support to figure out the next steps for appeal. 

    Warning: The quickest way to appeal a restriction of your account is by using our Contact Us form and choosing the following request type: Account Issues > Restrictions.

  • Creating account on Paxful

    Your Paxful journey begins with a simple decision: whether or not to create an account. If you think that you’re ready to take the plunge into the world of crypto and financial freedom, then the next step is to create your Paxful account. Creating your account is easy and very user-friendly. Upon registering, you also get a free wallet to store the bitcoin you earn from trading on Paxful. 

    Here’s a Paxful school tutorial to walk you through the process of creating your account:

    To create a new Paxful account:

    1. Open a web browser and launch the Paxful webpage: https://www.paxful.com. The Paxful home page appears. 

    2. Click Create account on the top right corner of the main page.
    The Create your account page appears.

    3. Complete the following fields on the signup form:

    Your email address Enter your email address. Email can be changed only within the first 7 days and only in case of a typo.
    Create password Create a strong password. Your new password must :
    Be at least 6 characters long
    Have one lower case character
    Have one special character (@#* etc.)

    • Upon registering with Paxful, you get an automatically created username. You can create a custom username later. To set a personalized username, you need to verify your email.
    • Click I have referral code to register your referral code received from another Paxful user.

    4. Click Create Paxful account.

    Warning: Read our Terms of Service, Affiliate Program Terms of Service and Privacy Notice. By continuing you agree to Paxful's Terms of Service automatically.

    5. Complete your captcha verification.
    An activation email is sent to your email address.
    6. Go to your inbox, open the email from noreply@paxful.com and click Verify email.

    Your account is registered and your email is confirmed.

  • My public profile

    Your public profile contains a summary of your account and your history on Paxful.

    Remember that your public profile is visible to other Paxful users. On your public profile, other Paxful users will be able to view the following information about you:

    • Username
    • Profile picture
    • Verification - information if your email, phone, ID or address are verified,  and you were verified as a trusted vendor.
    • Reputation - an aggregation of the positive and negative feedback that you have received on Paxful.
    • Active offers - offers you created that are currently active.
    • Your profile language
    • Number of trade partners
    • Number of trades
    • Trade volume - total BTC you’ve traded on Paxful.
    • Number of users who trust you
    • Number of users who have blocked you
    • Time elapsed since you joined Paxful
    • Last time you were online on Paxful

    As you can see, your public profile will contain all the credentials you have earned on Paxful and will help other users decide if you are a safe trade partner or not.

  • Dashboard

    Your dashboard is the hub to track all your activity on Paxful.

    The dashboard is your personalized tool for accessing all the information you need. There are 4 different dashboards on Paxful, each with its own specific uses and functions.

    Classic Dashboard

    Once you create an account on Paxful you get a free wallet and access to the Classic Dashboard. This is the general/default dashboard where you can:

    • See your active and past trades.
    • Check help pages.
    • Create and edit your offers.
    • Get an overview of your affiliates.
    • Check account activity.

    Vendor Dashboard

    This dashboard appears as soon as you create your first offer. On the vendor dashboard, you can:

    • View your active and past trades. 
    • Get an overview of your affiliates.
    • See your sales charts.
    • See offer statistics: active, deactivated offers and more.
    • View past trade survey results.
    • Create and edit offers
    • Perform additional account verification steps.
    • Request additional features from our developers.

    In general, this dashboard is useful when you want to see the statuses of all your trades and offers.

    Merchant Dashboard

    This dashboard exclusively applies to users who are using the “Pay with Paxful” feature (sign up for this feature on our Pay with Paxful page). On the Merchant Dashboard you can see:

    • Your sales for the last 28 days. 
    • All transactions made using the merchant link.

    Affiliate Dashboard

    This is the dashboard to track your affiliates and your affiliate commissions. 

    On this dashboard, you can:

    • View your affiliate link and share it with your friends and network.
    • Get a detailed overview of all your affiliates.
    • Check your affiliate earnings from completed trades.
    • Create unique trackable links in the ‘track ID’ section. 

    The Paxful Affiliate Program is an exciting opportunity for users to be rewarded for sharing their Paxful affiliate links with their friends and followers.


  • Trusted/Blocked list

    Trusting and blocking users on Paxful is an effective way for you to filter whom you want to do business with. 

    Apart from the various external indicators that can help you decide whether certain users are safe to trade with or not, you can also trust and block users based on your personal experience trading with them.

    Trusting Users 

    Trusting users you’ve had a good trade experience with, is a good way to stay connected with them. For example, if you constantly find that a user trades efficiently with you, you can then mark that user as your trusted user. In this way, their offers will be prioritized in your feed. When creating offers, there are also options where you can choose to show your offer only to your list of trusted buyers.

    Trusting users is a way to make real connections with them, but just like in real life, be careful whom you trust on Paxful.

    Blocking Users

    While trusting users is the way to build a healthy trade relationship with decent traders, blocking is for the contrary. If you’ve had a bad experience trading with someone (e.g. it wasn’t as efficient as you’d hoped for, or if you were scammed), you can block that particular user. If you block a vendor, they will not be able to see your offers on their list. Similarly, if you block a buyer, you won’t be able to see their offers on your list.

    Blocking is a way to ensure that the bad apples don’t bother you.

    To trust or block a user follow these steps:

    1. Click on the username on any page (offer list, trade chat, past trades in your dashboard, etc.)
      The user profile opens.
    2. Click Trust or Block links under the username to mark the user as trusted, or to block them respectively.


    Note: You can always undo this action later.

  • Changing phone number

    Changing a phone number on Paxful is straight forward. To change your phone number on Paxful:

    1. Log in to your Paxful account, hover over your username on the top right of the page and click Settings from the context menu that appears.
    The Settings page appears.

    2. On the menu on the left, click Profile.
    Your Profile page appears.

    3. Click Change number near to PHONE field.
    A confirmation link appears.

    4. Confirm the action by clicking Click to send reset link to email.
    An email is sent to your inbox.

    5. Open the email from help@paxful.com and click the link in the email.
    You are redirected to the security questionnaire on our website.

    Note: The link received in your email will expire after 30 minutes from the time the email appears on your inbox.

    6. Answer your security questions and click Submit.

    Your phone number is reset. Follow the phone verification procedure to finalize the process.

  • Changing email address

    For your account security, you can't change your email address directly under your account settings on Paxful. You can change the email address on your account by contacting our support team

    There are certain requirements that must be met, for us to accept your request to change the email address on your account. They are as follows: 

    • The account must be less than seven days old.
    • Wallet activity on the account should be 1500 USD or less.
    • The email address requires only minor changes such as fixing typos, etc. 


    Warning: Requests that do not meet the above requirements will be rejected.

    After you contact support and request an email change, you will be asked to verify the account ownership by answering questions, which will enable us to confirm that you are the rightful owner of the account.

  • Account locked

    If for some reason you can’t access your account and see a message that it is LOCKED – there are two possible reasons:

    1. Geolocation lock. If you log in from a new location, you have to approve it through email to log in.

      What to do?
      Check your inbox for an unlock link. Click the link and continue using our website.

      If you are still unable to access your account or have not received an email with a link from Paxful, please let us know the error message or send us a screenshot so we can help you with it.

    2. We identify suspicious activity on your account. As a result, we may lock it for security purposes to prevent any criminal action on our platform. The account will remain locked until we confirm your ownership and identity.

      What to do?
      Contact support for assistance.
  • What "a user has blocked you" means?

    Being “blocked” on Paxful isn’t the end of the world.  

    If you ever receive a message saying that a certain user has “blocked” you, don’t worry about it too much because it doesn’t affect your account and the actions you can perform on it. If a user blocks you, it means that they won’t see any offers you post in the future. They may have their own reasons but it won’t affect your standing on Paxful and it won’t affect your ability to sell and buy bitcoin. So just continue to use your account normally. As a pro tip, you can try to be as transparent and forthcoming as you can with your trade partners. But at the end of the day, keep in mind that you can’t please everyone.

  • Deleting account

    It’s unfortunate that you want to delete your account. However, you can delete your account if you want to. For legal and compliance purposes, Paxful s required to keep all records and trading histories of all our users both current and past.

    To delete your Paxful account

    1. Hover over your username on the top right of the page and click Settings from the context menu that appears.
      The Settings page appears. 
    2. On the menu on the left, click Security.
      The Security settings appear.
    3. Under the Delete account section, click DELETE ACCOUNT. 
      The Request to delete account dialog box appears.
    4. Select one of the pre-defined reasons or select Other and type your own reason for account deactivation and click Send request.
      A confirmation email is sent to your inbox from help@paxful.com.
    5. Open the email and click DELETE ACCOUNT.

    The request is added to our queue and the moderators will review it before arriving at a decision. If the request is declined, the moderator will provide a reason via email. We request your patience as this is a time-consuming process. 

    Warning: If after submitting deletion request you still have trading activity, wallet balance or active disputes, your request will be rejected.

  • Managing Telegram notifications

    Telegram is one of the most popular messengers amongst our users. This is why we have an integration for Telegram notifications. This feature makes it much easier for you to be aware of everything that is happening to your Paxful account including trade statuses and your wallet balance. This guide will show which events you can be notified about and how to activate or deactivate Telegram notifications for your Paxful account.

    Note: Telegram notifications can be managed in Paxful web version only. Paxful Mobile Wallet does not support this feature.

     You can set your Telegram notifications for the following events:

    • Someone viewed your profile
    • Someone viewed your offer
    • Bitcoin deposit pending
    • Bitcoin deposit confirmed
    • Incoming trade
    • Partner paid you for a trade
    • Trade cancelled/expired
    • Bitcoin sold
    • Bitcoin purchased

    Activating Telegram notifications

    1. Log in to your Paxful account, hover over your username located in the top right corner of the page and click Settings.


    Account settings page appears.

    2. Under the Telegram icon, click Activate.


    Telegram Bot Activation dialogue window appears.

    3. Click Activate in Telegram

    Note: You can also click Copy link and paste the link into a new tab to get to the next step.

    The Telegram activation page opens in a new tab.

    4. On the Telegram activation page, click SEND MESSAGE.


    • For the mobile view, simply select whether you want to open the app or web version of Telegram and proceed to step 5.
    • Make sure you are logged in to your Telegram account on the same device.
    • After clicking SEND MESSAGE, a dialogue window may appear asking permission to open the Telegram app. Depending on your browser, click Allow or Open Telegram.
    • To open the web version of Telegram, click OPEN IN WEB.

    A conversation starts with Paxful Telegram bot in your Telegram account.

    5. In your Telegram account, open the conversation with Paxful Telegram (paxful_bot) bot and click Start.

    A notification appears in your Paxful account inbox: Paxful Telegram Bot activated successfully. You receive a message from Paxful Telegram bot: Successfully subscribed.

    You are successfully subscribed to Paxful Telegram notifications.

    Deactivating Telegram notifications

    Note: You may need to deactivate Paxful Telegram bot in case if you need to connect it to a new Telegram account. To stop receiving notifications, you may simply untick checkboxes in your Notifications list located in your Paxful account settings.

    1. Log in to your Paxful account, hover over your username located in the top right corner of the page and click Settings.


    Account settings page appears.

    2. Under the Telegram icon, click Stop.


    Deactivate Telegram Bot dialogue window appears. 

    3. Click Deactivate bot to confirm deactivation.


    A notification appears in your Paxful account inbox: Paxful Telegram Bot unsubscribed successfully. You receive a message from Paxful Telegram bot: Successfully unsubscribed.

    You have stopped receiving Paxful Telegram notifications.

  • Adding bank account to user profile

    This article shows you how to add and manage bank details in your profile.  Now you don’t have to send this sensitive information to your trade partner manually every time you have a bank transfer trade. You can save more than one bank account and use them for all your bank transfer trades.

    Adding bank account

    1. Login to your account, hover over your username and click Settings.
    The Account settings page appears.

    2. Keep your bank account details handy and click Bank Accounts on the left menu.

    3. Choose your account type, country, and currency and click Next.

    4. Complete the following fields:

    Field Name Description Comments
    Routing Number The nine-digit code used to identify your financial institution. The USA only
    Account Number Your personal account number with the bank.  
    Account Holder Name The account holder’s name. The account holder’s name must be exactly as stated in the account.
    IBAN Your International Bank Account Number EU only
    Bank Your bank’s name. Nigeria only

    5. Click International transfer details (optional) and complete the additional fields as follows:

    Note: If you want to receive international payments, additional details about Account Holder are necessary.

    6. Click Add account.
    Your account is added to the list of your bank accounts in your profile.


    • You can edit/remove account details in the future. 
    • You can save multiple bank accounts and use them for all your bank transfer trades.


    Deleting bank account

    1. Login to your account, hover over your username and click Settings.


    The Account settings page appears.

    2. Click Bank Accounts on the left menu.


    The list of your bank accounts appears.

    3. Choose the account you want to be deleted and click Delete.


    A confirmation dialogue box appears.

    4. Double-check if this is the account you want to remove and click Yes.


    Your account is removed from the list of your bank accounts in your profile.

  • How do I activate dark theme?

    Desktop or web view

    The dark theme is an exciting new addition to the visuals on Paxful. To enable or disable the dark theme for your account:

    1. Open any page on paxful.com.
    2. Scroll down to the footer of the page. Locate and click the Dark theme toggle to turn the dark theme on or off for your device.

    Can I activate the dark theme on my Paxful mobile app?


    The dark theme is supported on all iOS devices. However, there is no way to enable the theme directly on the app. If you enable dark mode under device settings, on your iOS device, then the Paxful iOS app switches to dark mode automatically. This is valid only for the native pages of the app. To activate the dark theme for web view pages such as the Buy or Sell pages viewed on a browser on your iOS device, follow the same steps as you would for the desktop version, highlighted above.


    Unfortunately, the dark theme for Paxful Android app is not available yet. However, for web view pages such as Buy or Sell pages viewed on a browser on your Android device, you can enable the dark theme by following the steps above for the desktop version.

  • How to set up a corporate account?

    Registering a corporate account is an excellent opportunity for businesses trading on Paxful. In this article, you will find the benefits, minimum requirements, and the steps you have to follow to obtain a corporate account. 

    What are the benefits of a corporate account?

    A corporate account gives you the following benefits:

    • Ability to have trades worth more than 50,000 USD after approval.
    • Ability to share one account with up to three Paxful users (including wallet access).

    What do I need to know before applying for a corporate account?

    Here is a list of what you need to know:

    • You need to verify your username, email address, phone number, ID, and address.
    • Your organization must be a registered legal entity.
    • You must have documentation showing proof of incorporation.
    • You must provide a shareholder registry with the names and passport details of all people who own at least 10% of the business.
    • If you are planning to delegate the management of your corporate account to someone who is not a registered owner, be ready to provide us with their name, title, and passport details.
    • You must have documentation disclosing the origin of the company's funds.
    • For cryptocurrency or high-risk businesses, we require Enhanced Due Diligence. Enhanced Due Diligence includes answering additional information about your compliance practices and providing a copy of your AML policy.

    How do I register for a corporate account?

    To apply for a corporate account, send us a message to corporateaccounts@paxful.com, and our specialists will reply with the next steps on how to proceed.


    • Once you've provided the required documents, we'll take up to seven business days to review your request. In some cases, it may take longer.
    • Remember to send your email request from the email you used to create your Paxful account.

    How do I know if my request is confirmed?

    You'll receive a confirmation email and a corporate account badge will appear on your profile.

  • Restrictions for users from the States of New York and Washington

    Unfortunately, due to regulatory restrictions, Paxful is currently prohibited from servicing customers in the States of New York and Washington. As a result, such accounts will be banned effective immediately. While the functionality of such accounts will generally be disabled, users will be able to withdraw any remaining funds in their accounts. Paxful apologizes for this inconvenience and we hope that in the future you will consider continuing your use of the Paxful platform if and when such use becomes compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

    • All accounts with an IP registered in the States of Washington or New York and all accounts with an address verified within the States of Washington or New York will be banned.
    • This means that you cannot trade on Paxful but you can easily at any time access your account, deactivate your offers and withdraw your funds.
